Stage One

Hire a professional REALTOR® (preferably me).

All joking aside your home is very likely your largest asset and the sum total of your life's savings and investments.  A professional Realtor will recognize this and treat it as an honour and a privilege to work through the disposition this asset with you.  The transaction should be treated with the utmost respect, integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.  Ensure you choose the right professional for you.  Ask your friends and family for referrals, read reviews and interview a few REALTORS® to ensure they are the right match for you.  Be sure to ask about their local expertise, their education, experience and licensing.   Be sure to ask us about the Stage One Listing Perks.

Stage Two

Work with your REALTOR® on your Listing Success Plan which should include -

  • Setting your selling price.

  • Be open to feedback.

  • Consider a pre-sale home inspection.

  • Stage your home.

  • Consider how you want your showings to be conducted.

  • What are your "non-negotiable"?

Stage Three

Be ready to move!

Ensure you are flexible and available to consider offers.  Offers can come in at any time and come with irrevocable dates and timelines.  Time is of the essence so you need to ensure you will be available to review them with your REALTOR®.

Start early notifying your service providers such as your financial institution, lawyer, moving company, insurance company, utilities, telephone, internet, Canada Post etc.

Start packing early. It is also a great opportunity to purge.  Be sure to donate anything that could be reused by another family and environmentally dispose of any unusable items.
